Low-E Coatings

Our supplier for Sungate coatings is one of the most trusted names in the industry - Vitro. They offer two types of low-E glasses for both cooler and warmer climates:

Passive low-E glass
Vitro offers a clear passive low-emissivity (low-E) glass for cooler climates. Passive low-E coatings allow some of the sun’s short-wave infrared energy to pass through and help heat a home during the winter, while still reflecting the interior long-wave heat energy back inside. This helps in minimizing heat loss and keeping the interiors of your home warm.
Solar control low-E glass
These glasses are manufactured using the highly rated Magnetron Sputter Vacuum Deposition (MSVD) process which enhances their solar control performance. They not only block the sun's direct heat but also improve thermal insulation. As a result, the hot air remains outside while the cool air is trapped inside, making your surroundings perfect for warmer climates.

Vitro also uses Argon Gas in low-E glass windows to improve energy efficiency by injecting it into the airspace of your insulating glass unit. Argon is an inert, colourless gas that is recommended with low-E glass solutions. It is also a minimum requirement to meet Energy Star criteria.
